The Mystery of Godliness - 2
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. I Timothy 3:16.
Godliness is God likeness. As I shared in the previous article the Mystery of Godliness has revealed in Jesus Christ alone and He is the real Godly man and those who claim to be Godly should look like Jesus Christ. Jesus was 100% God and also He was 100% man for you and me so that we can learn lesson from and be like Him.
Now we are learning the lesson from the Jesus life:
- 1. The real Godly man should have always burden for the lost
The real Godly man carry the burden always in his heart. Many may have the form of Godliness but they are not real godly people. For example in Jesus time, Pharisees claimed to be most godly people on the earth but Jesus completely booted them out, Jesus saying of them in Matthew 23:5, “ All their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.” Their works all for showing to others how great I am, how godly I am but inside they are nothings it means they never do anything with the burden. Serving the Lord is not a business, if I do this I would get that….we are called to serve the Lord with the burden not with the expectation.
Jesus did all with the burden, the burden for whole world and He never did anything with expectation. He cared for the people. He fed them, He healed them, He ate with sinners because He had a burden for their souls, He loved sinners because He wanted to win them with the Love of Father, He loved harlot and brought back to Father’s love. He loved all and the whole world.
Burden will not and never come, unless you have love for others. If you really love others and the burden will comes and grip into your heart. Well, you may say, I love them but I don’t feel any burden to do something. Let me read the one Bible Portion for you, I John 3:16-18, “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children let us now love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
Love always comes with action, Mother Teresa had a great love for others and she spent her entire life for others by serving them various ways and love leads you into an action. God so loved the world and He died for us. This is Godly nature and we are called for this only. Sadly to see many are doing the work of God without love, they do because they have to do. Ministry is not what you have to do… Oh I have to do this and that, I have to preach this Sunday and the next one…..Ministries is not like this. Ministries should be done by love and with burden.
I sometime wonder of what Jesus said in Matthew 26: 53, “Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? Why can’t Jesus pray to the Father to send legions of angels to change this world upside and down and making people to know Who Jesus is? This is not God’s will and the will of God is John 13; 35, “By this all will know that you are My Disciples, if you have love for one another.”
You can change the world and bring people to Christ by loving them, the best way to win others for Christ is to love them, love them genuinely, love them with action and love them with deeds.
The real Godly man should always love others and have love for others, do you have the burden and do you love? If your heart is so cold and selfish, ask the Lord to fill with love for others.
